An innovative technology opening a new window under the skin
The company has developed a groundbreaking technology called Line-field Confocal Optical Coherence Tomography (LC-OCT) resulting from 15+ years of cutting-edge research conducted by Pr. Arnaud Dubois, the CSO of DAMAE Medical, in the Charles Fabry Laboratory (CNRS, Institut d’Optique).
The strength of DAMAE Medical’s innovation is to combine the principles of reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) and optical coherence tomography (OCT).

The skin lesion of the patient is illuminated with a line of infrared light that is scanned through the tissue. The echo-time delay and amplitude of light backscattered from the sub-surface skin microstructures are measured through low-coherence interferometry associated with confocal spatial filtering. A computational algorithm allows the reconstruction of a morphologic image of the tissue from the measured optical signal.
With an unprecedented spatial resolution of 1 µm, the cross-sectional images reveal in real-time and non-invasively a comprehensive structural mapping of skin tissue at a cellular level down to a depth of 1 mm.
